Florida Hot Rods & Hogs is proud to
support the Charlotte County Homeless
Coalition.
Spectator general admission to the all-day
event is just $15 and $4 of the ticket price
will be donated to the Charlotte County
Homeless Coalition Foundation. We're
projecting attendance of 20,000 spectators.
Founded in 1989, the Charlotte County
Homeless Coalition leads the drive to
assisting individuals and families in need.
Our clients are not only the chronically
homeless, but many families and individuals
hit hard by the economy and foreclosure
crisis.
What does the Charlotte Homeless Coalition
do?
● Provide Emergency Shelter: At the Safe
House Emergency Shelter, they provide up to
60 days of shelter for people and families
in crisis.
●Strive for Homeless Prevention: The primary
focus of the Charlotte County Homeless
Coalition’s Homeless Prevention Program is
to help families stay in their homes. Each
month hundreds of families come to us in
need of resources to prevent eviction and/or
utility disconnection.
●Hunger Prevention: our Food Pantry is open
on Fridays between 1 pm and 4 pm to
distribute a three-day supply of food to
needy families and a Hot Meals Program open
365 days per year serving a nutritious
breakfast and dinner.
●Continuum of Care: As the Lead Agency
(designated by HUD), the Coalition organizes
the collaboration of 65 local agencies to
address the needs of clients and provide
essential services. A major priority of the
Coalition is to avoid overlapping of
services. Read More
DID YOU KNOW THAT CCHC:
Serves an average of 120 hot dinners each
night?
Serves an average of 55 breakfast each
morning?
Each month our food pantry provides
three-day supply of food for 500 families
and individuals.
Each year local restaurants, businesses,
churches, and community group donate food
and supplies valued at over $250,000.
Over 4,550 volunteers donate over 14,200
hours per year. Based on minimum wage of
just $7.25 that equals over $100,000 in
labor costs.
Assuming a motel cost of just $25.00 a
night, that equates to an annual cost of
$638,750.
For every dollar of support received from
local government, the community receives ten
dollars in services. The benefit to the
residents of Charlotte County in 2009 is
over $1,000,000 in services for an
investment of $100,000. This is made
possible through State & Federal funding and
the generous donations of time and money by
the citizens and business of this community.
